MALDON BOROUGH DIRECTORY and Heybridge in the 1848 Whites Directory Including HEYBRIDGE PARISH, which is denoted by the letter H, when not fully expressed. This parish is in the Northern, but the three parishes of Maldon are in the Southern Division of Essex.
The POST OFFICE is in High street, and Mr. William Polley is the postmaster. Letters are despatched by the Chelmsford, Maldon, andBurnham mail cart; to Chelmsford, London, and all parts, at 7½ evening, and to Southminster, Burnham, &c. , at 7 morning. Money Orders are granted and paid. The delivery commences at 7 morning in Summer, and at 8 in Winter, and the box closes for the Colchester and London mail at 7 evening. There is a sub-post office at Mr. Henry Waring’s, Heybridge.
