Strethall Whites Directory in 1863
STRETHALL, or Streethall, a small hilly parish, 4miles W.N.W. of Saffron Walden, and 2 miles from Chesterford Railway Station, has only 41 souls, and 609 acres of land, besides wastes and roads.
The Trustees of the late Rev. William Forbes Raymond are lords ofthe manor, owners of most of the soil, and patrons of the rectory, valued in K.B. at £13, and in 1831 at £168, and now held by the Rev. Joseph Collin, of Elmdon, who has lately restored the small ancient Church, which is a Norman structure, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Mr. Edmund Emson occupies the Hall Farm, and is the only resident farmer.
