In my earlier days of growing up, I often travelled out into Essex for an evenings entertainment in my car and with my girl, and often visiting the likes of Ongar and Blackmore, or South Weald; and at some stage I always got caught in a gridlock in Billericay on the way home, every time.
It seemed like every road led to Billericay, although we never stopped here, until eventually, and this time it was a permanent move; oh and my girl is now my wife .
Billericay, apart from appearing to be a very nice area, has a small town. I have little idea about the Billericay, and its history old and new. That is until now, as I put together some idea of what makes this little town so desirable. Enjoy.
I have already noted it could do with some of the shops making more of an effort for those with accessibility problems. Boots the chemist are good, as are the library, and Waitrose and the Human Kinds cafe; but many other shops treat it as a secondary issue, especially specsavers and the carpet shop.
It would also appear that Essex Highways, the body in charge of the roads in Essex do not care much about this either, and accessibility problems on the roads and highways.
Most of the local politicians, and MP seem to accept Essex highways as the authority in these issues. It is a a shame that this is the case in a developed country.
I received a response from Essex Highways in regards to a question about the railway bridge in Mountnessing road. I asked how this was accessible for those in wheelchairs and larger pushchairs, and part of his response was a bridge across the railway which has steps. Is this guy for real? I will not bother responding to this ridiculous suggestion as he had little care for those with accessibility issues, or did he really care.
