LAVER ( LITTLE) is a small parish and scattered village, adjoining the above, and 5 miles E. of Harlow. It has only 128 souls, and 886 acres of land. John Maryon Wilson, Esq. , is lord of the nanors called Little Laver and Enville, but a great part of the soil belongs to C. P. Meyer, Esq. , and a few smaller freeholders.
The Church (Virgin Mary,) is a small building, with a wooden belfry, rising in the centre. The rectory, valued in K.B. at £15 . 10s. 5d. , and in 1831 at £283, is in the patronage of R. Palmer, Esq. , and incumbency of the Rev. Henry Palmer, M.A., who has 90A. of glebe, and a large and handsome Rectory House, which was rebuilt in 1831 , at the cost of about £2000 . The tithes were commuted in 1847 for £260 per annum.
