LISTON, a small parish on the southern side of the River Stour, opposite Long Melford, and 3 miles N. by W. of Sudbury, has only 95 inhabitants, and 631 acres of land, belonging to various freeholders, but Sir Wm. Parker, Bart., is lord of the manor. Liston Hall, a fine red brick mansion, in a small park, belongs to Richard Lambert, Esq.
The Church is a small antique strucucture, with tower and three bells. The rectory, valued in K.B. at £12, and in 1831 at £165, is in the patronage of R. Lambert, Esq. , and incumbency of the Rev. T. R. Fisher.
