Save builders developing on Frith wood, the original which should be protected according to the Historic Environment Assessment for Frith Wood, Billericay written for Basildon council, can these people not read a document which states categorically that in Conclusion
Frith Wood represents the surviving remnant of a larger area of medieval woodland, which was enclosed by the Bishops of London in the 13th century, as part of the manorial holdings in Laindon. The woodland took its present shape and form in the post-medieval period, possibly
in the late 18th century and has retained its current boundaries since its earliest depiction on the 1805 Old Series OS map. There is considerable potential for earlier archaeological deposits to survive within the woodland and its immediate environs, given the discovery of a Bronze Age hoard in the southern boundary ditch. Analysis of the Lidar data as well as field observation on the ground has established the survival of earthworks, both enclosing the wood and within it.
